JOHN HOUGHTON died at his residence, Foxley Lodge, Lymm, Cheshire, on December 15, 1924, at the age of seventy-four.

He was the eldest son of the founder of W. D. Houghton & Co., Ltd., wire manufacturers, of Sankey, Warrington. He was managing director of that company and chairman of Hobson, Houghton & Co., Ltd., of the Don Steelworks, Sheffield.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1873.
