1810 Built by James Green, the County Surveyor, and named Elmfield House
1822 Bought by George Sparkes
1827 Elmfield House advertised for sale, late the property of George Sparkes. Includes six acres.[1]
1845 Resident was John Eyre Kingdon.[2]
1851 General Gage John Hall, a serving army officer, lived there with his wife and niece.[3]
1861 Harriet Hall (widow) and her cousin were occupiers
1865 Taken by William Danby
1889 Resident is William Danby
1897 Bought by Dr William Buller Heberden, a cousin of Redvers Buller
1923 Became the Imperial Hotel, Exeter
