Veno's
Sir William Henry Veno (1866-1933), was born William Reynard Varney in Castle Douglas, Renfrewshire, Scotland on 22 December 1866.
He emigrated to the United States around the year 1887, and established a business for the manufacture of cough medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He changed his name to William Henry Veno in 1896, (and by deed poll in Britain in 1910). Veno's Lightning Cough Cure was established, and he founded the Veno Drug Co in Manchester in 1898.
He sold the company to Beecham Estates and Pills Ltd. in 1925.[1]
