The Silk Mill was formerly Derby's Museum of Industry and History, part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

The museum had a fascinating collection of artefacts relating to the city's industry, including the manufacture of silk textiles, aero engines, stationary steam engines, locomotives, etc. The site was part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site

The museum closed and was redeveloped as the Museum of Making. Few of the exhibits from the Museum of Industry and History made it into the new museum.
