HAROLD EDWARD WALKER was born in 1908 and received his technical education at the Acton and Chiswick Polytechnic from 1922 to 1924. He served his apprenticeship with the London Electric Railway Company (now merged into the London Passenger Transport Board) from 1924 to 1929, and remained in their service until his death, which occurred on 2nd June 1940.
Mr. Walker was employed as junior technical assistant to the progress engineer from 1929 to 1935 and was then transferred to the plant engineer's section, where he became section controller for millwrights, and with responsibility for a staff of 80 workshop employees. His duties consisted of technical and administrative work in connexion with the maintenance, installation, and purchase of factory plant for railway repair shops.
He was elected a Student of the Institution in 1924, and, was transferred to Graduateship in 1931, and to Associate Membership in 1939.
