1919 GLASS RESEARCH. Registration of a New Association.[1]
The formal registration is announced body which represents one of the most interesting evidences of the great revival in the glass trade of Britain and in which the Sheffield University took such leading part. The Glass Research Association (word Limited omitted from tide licence of Board of (157,846) was registered August 11 as a company limited by guarantee, not formed, for purpose of profit, with initial number of members, not exceeding 100, each liable for not more than £6 in the event winding up-
Objects: To promote research and other scientific work in connection with the glass and allied trades or industries, establish and equip laboratories, workshops or fact once, apply to the Government for and accept money grants and other assistance, to make arrangements with the Committee of the Privy Council for scientific and industrial research, and other Government Departments (for) schemes of research and other work and matters within the objects the Association, to prepare, edit, and publish books, papers and periodicals, to establish and maintain museums, libraries, and collections of literature. statistics, scientific data, and other information, etc.

The Council may not, without the consent of the Board of Trade, elect membership of the Association any foreigner or foreign corporation or corporation under foreign control. The Council are to appoint director research or other responsible technical officer, who shall be entrusted with the general direction and supervision of the research work. 1924 Wound up because of inadequate financial support from the Portland cement industry.[2]
