Yoker Power Station

1902 British Westinghouse Electrical & Manufacturing Co Ltd was contracted to design, equip and build the station.

1903 Babcock and Wilcox contracted to supply the boilers

1905 The Yoker power station opened with 2x 2MW turbo-alternator sets.

1908 one of the 2MW sets was transferred from Yoker to Motherwell and temporary 1MW & 0.6MW sets were installed at Yoker

1909 two 2MW sets at Yoker were rewound to provide 3MW each

By 1912 two further 5MW sets had been installed at Yoker and the 1MW & 0.6MW sets sold back.

1918 A 18.75MW set was installed at Yoker

1929 and 1931 two 20MW sets were installed at Yoker

1930s At some point the company changed frequency from 25 to 50 Hz

1937 and 1939 a pair of 30MW sets was installed at Yoker.

By 1949 The installed capacity at Yoker was 100MW
