Sir William Swallow (1905- ), Managing Director of Vauxhall

Managing Director, General Motors, Ltd., since 1953; Chairman, General Motors, Ltd., since 1958; Director, Vauxhall and General Finance Corpn., Ltd.

b: January 2, 1905, Gomersal, Yorkshire. Educ: Gomersal and Heckmondwike, Yorkshire; studied engineering at Batley and Huddersfield Technical Colleges.

In 1932 went as development engineer to Pressed Steel Co., Ltd., Oxford; joined Short Brothers, Rochester, as Chief Production Engineer, 1943; joined General Motors Overseas Operations Division. New York, 1947; appointed General Manager AC Sphinx Spark Plug Division of General Motors, Ltd., 1950; is also a Director of Vauxhall Motors, Ltd.
