WILLIAM MARTINEAU, born at Liverpool on the 3rd December, 1826, died on the 24th March, 1915, aged 88.
He served his pupilage to Messrs. Locke and Errington, and was subsequently engaged on railway and Parliamentary work in this country.
Later he was occupied on the construction of the Nova Scotia Railway and on the Valparaiso and Santiago Railway, railways and bridges in Brazil, and other work. He had, however, retired from active professional pursuits for many years before his death.
Mr. Martineau was elected a Member of the Institution on the 5th April, 1859. His name had thus been borne on the roll upwards of 55 years.
