1836 Advert: 'W. GADD
GRATEFULLY returns thanks to his Friends and the Public for their past favors with which they have honored him, and respectfully informs them, that he has constructed a STEAM ENGINE and SLIDE LATHE on the most improved principle, which he will enable him to Turn, Bore, and Finish, all descriptions of Machinery in an accurate and superior manner.
W. G. will also continue to execute all kinds of Small Work, &c., and respectfully hopes by superior workmanship, and the most reasonable charges to merit a share of their public patronage, which will ever be his most strenous exertions to merit.'[1]
