1874-81 Apprenticed at Crewe Works

1878-9 Attended lectures at the Royal College of Science, Dublin

1881 Entered the Engineer's office, Crewe, under H. Footner. Specialised in design and setting out of iron bridges, etc

1885 Associate Member of Inst Civil Engineers
