1849 May 22nd. Married at Manchester to Mary Ann Asher. William is of 20 Gorton Street, age 20, a Turner, the son of John Allen, a Millwright. Mary is of Pritchard Street, the daughter David Asher, a Labourer.

1861 Living at 3 Cook Street, Chorlton-cum-Medlock, Manchester: William Allen (age 32 born Manchester), Master Mechanic employing 2 men. With his wife Mary A. Allen (age 31 born Manchester) and their four children; Lucy Allen (age 11 born Manchester), Embroiderer; John Allen (age 9 born Manchester); William Allen (age 5 borm Manchester); and Mary Ann Allen (age six months and born Manchester).[1]
