1868 Henry Frederick Willey (1830-1894) entered a partnership with Mr Ford trading as Willey and Ford and based at Shilhay. They manufactured gas-stoves and gas-meters
1869 Willey and Ford open new gas works at Chagford designed by H. Willey [1]

1870 March. Announce they have won the contract for the gas works for Chard [2]
1870 25th May. Willey and Ford announce that they have moved their business from Bartholomew Street to the Albert Foundry and now have an Engineering, Gas meter and Gas fitting departments. [3]
1871 The partnership was employing 32 persons [4]
1876 March. Advertisement for Willey and Ford, Gas Engineers of the Gas Engineering Works, Commercial Road, Exeter. Claim they have works at more than 100 gas companies in England, Ireland and Wales. [5]
1878 Henry F. Willey, Gas Engineer, of 2 Bystock Terrace, Exeter; Willey and Co, gas engineers, manufacturers of meters, gas chandeliers, gas holders, etc. of Albert Foundry, The Shilhay, Commercial Road, Exeter. [6]
1881 The company was employing 100 persons [7]
1886 October. Willey and Ford win contract at Abergavenny [8]
