Manufacturers of Saddlery and Harness

Established in 1780 by Benjamin Whippy. He was succeeded by his sons, John and Benjamin. On the death of the latter the business was acquired by R. W. Steggall, who had acted as Foreman and Confidential Manager for many years. At his death in 1861 he was succeeded by his son Robert and by his son-in-law, Horatio Henry Flemming. The latter died in 1891, and was succeeded by his son, Robert Flemming, who with his nephew Herbert Flemming now constitute the firm. Specialities: Saddlery of the highest class for Hunting, Polo, Military, and Colonial purposes. Harness of the highest class for all general and State purposes. Patent: A Gullet Plate for strengthening the arches of saddle trees.
