Early 1700s: The company produced silver coins with the mark "W.C.C." below the bust of King George I, with Welsh plumes and pairs of interlinked C's on the reverse, using silver bullion the company had mined in Wales.[2]
c1720 Around the time of the South Sea Bubble, when there was a great deal of speculative activity (gambling) the Prince of Wales was encouraged to become a Governor of the Company but this did not last long before objections were raised.
