1975 United Aircraft changed its name to United Technologies Corporation, reflecting a change of strategy to one of growth and diversification. United Aircraft already owned Pratt and Whitney which supplied engines and aerospace systems

1976 Acquired Otis Elevator Co.

1979 Acquired Carrier Refrigeration and Mostek.

2018 Acquired avionics maker Rockwell Collins, giving sufficient scale to the aerospace business to exist as a stand-alone company; hence decided to spin off Otis Elevator Co and Carrier Corporation.

2020 Divestment of Otis and Carried completed.
