Mr. Thomas Winans the well-known American engineer who was formerly so intimately connected with Russian railways, and who was the inventor of the Winans cigar-shaped steamer, has died at Newport, Rhode Island, after an illness of six months. He was in the 60th year of his age. He was reputed to be worth 25,000,000 dols.
