ca.1833 Born in Sheffield the son of John Spencer, Master Cutler.

1861 Living in Masbro Street, Kimberworth, Yorkshire: John Spencer (age 69 born Sheffield), Proprietor of Houses and Land - Widower. With his son Thomas Spencer (age 28 born Sheffield), Steel and File Manufacturer. One servant.[1]

1881 Living at 200 Masbro Street, Kimberworth, Yorkshire: Thomas Spencer (age 48 born Sheffield), Retired File Smith. With his wife Elizabeth Spencer (age 44 born Sheffield) and his sister-in-law Annie E. White (age 32 born Sheffield), Unmarried.[2]
