Thomas Lever Rushton, Banker, solicitor, industrialist and landowner. Proprietor of Bolton Ironworks as Rushton and Eckersley.

1811 Born in Bolton son of Thomas Rushton

1838 Thomas Rushton died; he was succeeded as partner in Hardcastle, Cross & Co (Private Bank) by his son, Thomas Lever Rushton.

1843 Married Harriet Ann Sharp at Manchester

1846 Represented Exchange ward 1846-52 and 1868-74.

1848 James Nasmyth refers to 'my valued friend Thomas Lever Rushton of the Bolton Ironworks

1848-50 Mayor of Bolton

He instigated the construction of the (largely cast iron) municipal Market Hall during his Mayoralty and accepted the original Mayoral Chain and Seal - commissioned and purchased by a group of local gentry - from Thomas Ridgway Bridson and Mr R S Barlow on 14 August 1850.

1854 James Nasmyth refers to 'My friend, Thomas Lever Rushton, proprietor of the Bolton Ironworks

He was Chairman of Bolton's first School Board in 1870 and laid the foundation stone of Pikes Lane Board School on 19 November 1873.

1874-83 Alderman for Exchange ward.

1883 Died in Cannes, France 8 February
