1751. Died. 'Nov. 1. At Pontefract, Yorkshire, aged 81, Col. Thomas Lafcelles, late Chief Engineer G. Britain, Surveyor-General of the Ordnance, and Deputy Quartermafter-General of all his Majefty's forces. He had been fixty three years the army, had served in twenty one campaigns, and had been engaged in thirty fix battles, particularly thole of the Boyne and Hochftet, in the latter of which was dangeroufly wounded. He was efteemeed one of the engineers in Europe.'[2]
