1846 Advertisement: 'To IRON MERCHANTS, SMITHS, &c. TO be DISPOSED OF immediately, by Private Contract, from Fifty to Sixty Tons of E V BAR IRON, assorted sizes. Apply to Thomas Kerslake, 102, Fore Street, or at the Foundry, Smythen Street. In quantities of not less than 10 Cwt., at 9s 10d per Cwt. for Cash.'[2]

1862 Advertises. 'Thos. Kerslake, West of England Engineering Works, Bonhay, or at 193 High Street, Exeter.'[4]

1863 Erected the roof and other ironwork for Exeter St David's station[5]

1865 'On Wednesday evening a large wrought iron bridge girder, for the South Devon Railway, was conveyed from Mr. Kerslake's foundry to the St. David's station. The girder measures 81 feet in length, 7 feet in depth and weighs nearly 30 tons. It was carried in one piece on Mr. Wall's waggons.'[6]

1874 Mentioned as ironfounder.[8]

1880 Business failed. Meeting of creditors. 'the failure of the debtor had arisen from pure misfortune. Mr. Kerslake had worked like a dog, and struggled hard against badness of trade'[9]
