THOMAS HENRY RICHARDS had been since 1927 chief engineer of the London Co-operative Society at Stratford.
He was born at Abergavenny in 1887 and commenced an apprenticeship at the Stratford works of the Great Eastern Railway in 1902.
From 1910 until 1914 he was employed by Messrs. Peter Hooker, of Walthamstow and by the Gnome Engine Company, after which he became engineer to a firm manufacturing addressing machines.
During the War he was in charge of machinery and plant for cartridge manufacture at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich.
He joined Messrs. James Keiller shortly after the War as assistant mechanical and electrical engineer, and was engaged in the design and installation of special labour-saving machinery. The firm was later amalgamated with Messrs. Crosse and Blackwell, and Mr. Richards remained with them until his appointment with the London Co-operative Society. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1921.
His death occurred n 1877 commenced on 20th May 1933.
