1923 Thomas Flinn set up in business in Sheffield.

1936 Frank Ellis acquired the business

Later his son (Frank) Philip Ellis took on the business, which then made only a few types of saws. The business concentrated on high quality saws (whose manufacturing might have died off otherwise).

Purchased the Pax range of saws from Sanderson, Kayser and Co, a brand which had been started in 1776.
