Ed. Sutton Valance School. Engineering Works— Whessoe Foundry Co, Darlington; University College, King's College and Central Institute, London; Technical College, Hannover, Germany; pupil of John Dixon, C.E., London. The Engineering Staff, G.N. Railway; Railway Engineer on several lines, both Survey and Construction, under the Cape, Orange Free State, Transvaal and Union Governments; Municipal work in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Joint Inventor of a pocket Telemeter for Rapid Surveying. Chief of the Municipal Survey Department, Johannesburg; Sectional Engineer of Ermelo and Piet Retiet Railway, Transtraal. Club: Overseas. War Service.—Appointed as Technical Officer at the Western Base at the start of the Boer War; served under Colonel Morris, Royal Engineers, as Assistant Surveyor at the Base. During the 1914 War as Assistant Inspector of Shells, etc., at Woolwich and outstations; at present Technical Assistant in Air Ministry.
