"THOMAS CLARKE was in the service of Messrs. Isaac Andrews and Sons, Ltd., Belfast Mills, Belfast, for thirty-four years.
He was born in 1878, and received his education at the Government School of Art and the Model School, Belfast, where he attended science classes. On the completion of a seven years' apprenticeship at the Falls Foundry of Messrs. Combe, Barbour and Combe, Belfast, in 1900, he served at sea as marine engineer for two years, rising from fifth to second engineer. He was then superintendent engineer for the Flour Oxidizing Company of Liverpool, before taking up, in 1904, his appointment as works manager to Messrs. Andrews and Sons, a position he retained until his retirement in 1935. Mr. Clarke was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1906, and was transferred to Membership in 1916. His death occurred on 30th May 1949."
