THOMAS BLACKLOCK was born in 1878 and received his education at the Blackburn Technical College. He served his apprenticeship with [[Yates and Thom|Messrs. Yates and Thom, Ltd.]], engine builders, of Blackburn, from 1894 to 1899, in whose employment he continued as junior draughtsman for a further four years. After three years as senior draughtsman to [[Hick, Hargreaves and Co|Messrs. Hick, Hargreaves and Company]], Ltd., of Bolton, he was appointed draughtsman and engineer to [[Browett, Lindley and Co|Messrs. Browett, Lindley and Company, Ltd.]], of Manchester.


In 1910 he received an appointment as leading draughtsman to the [[Metropolitan-Vickers|Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Company, Ltd.]], Manchester, and began a long association with that firm which continued until his retirement in 1933. Mr. Blacklock, whose death occurred at Edinburgh on 19th June 1943, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1929.

THOMAS BLACKLOCK was born in 1878 and received his education at the Blackburn Technical College. He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Yates and Thom, Ltd., engine builders, of Blackburn, from 1894 to 1899, in whose employment he continued as junior draughtsman for a further four years.
