1967 The Independent Television Authority decided not to reappoint Rediffusion Television to the London ITV contract. Instead a merger was forced with rival company ABC Television to form Thames Television.

1968 Company founded; Associated British Picture Corporation owned a majority share in Thames Television.

1985 The Independent Broadcasting Authority rejected Carlton Communications's plans to take over Thames TV.

1986 Thames Television, the largest independent television station in the UK, was to list its shares on the Stock Exchange[1]
