Various companies had grown from the business originally established by Charles Tennant in 1788.
1930 These companies were consolidated under the name of the Tennant Group of companies[1].
1946 Advert: Tennant Group comprised:
- Charles Tennant and Co Ltd (Glagow and Belfast)
- Charles Tennant and Co (Eire) Ltd (Dublin)
- C. Tennant Sons and Co Ltd (London)
- Tennants (Lancashire) Ltd
- Pan Britannica Industries Ltd (Waltham Abbey)
- Barter Trading Corporation Ltd (London)
- Synthite Ltd (West Bromwich)
1997 Tennants Distribution Ltd was formed as a holding company for 3 distribution companies Charles Tennant and Co Ltd, Tennants (Lancashire) Ltd and Charles Tennant and Co (London) Ltd.
1999 Tennants (Lancashire) Ltd and Charles Tennant and Co (London) Ltd formally merged under the name Tennants Distribution Ltd. Charles Tennant and Co Ltd (based in Scotland) remained a separate subsidiary company.
