TAKEO TARIMURA was born in 1866, and in 1883 he entered the Imperial College of Engineering at Tokyo. In this College and in the Imperial University of Japan he spent eight years in studying mechanical engineering, and obtained the degree of Master of Engineering in 1890.
In the same year he was appointed engineer to the Osaka Cotton Mill - an establishment having an equipment at that time of 550 looms and 54,000 spindles - and in the following year he was advanced to the position of general manager and superintending engineer.
Later on, he introduced new plant and machinery for establishing, as an addition to the existing business, extensive sewing thread mills.
In 1900 he resigned his position at the Osaka Cotton Mills, after ten years' association with that undertaking, and opened practice in Osaka as a Consulting Engineer.
He was also appointed lecturer on the science of Cotton Spinning in Kioto University and at the Osaka Technical School.
In the following year he was appointed Chief Engineer and Managing Director of the Osaka Mousseline de Laine Mills, and in 1906 he visited this country on matters connected with the extension of that undertaking and the equipment of a new factory.
He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1895 and was transferred to Membership in 1907.
His death occurred in 1925.
