Sun-Pat is a brand of peanut butter in the United Kingdom. The brand is currently owned by Premier Foods after its 2002 acquisition of Nestlé's ambient food business. Sun-Pat is the UK's favourite brand of peanut butter, used for 300 million sandwiches and rounds of toast a year.
1890 Peanut butter was first invented by a St. Louis physician.
1930s American peanut butter was sold in the UK since the 1930s.
1960s Sun-Pat was launched, initially produced as a by-product of a nut-packing operation in Hadfield, Derbyshire.
In the early 1990's a range of cheese spreads were also produced under the Sun-Pat brand but were later discontinued.
2004 The nut-packing factory in Hadfield was closed and production has now moved to Histon in Cambridgeshire.
