Stuart Richardson (1863-1914)

1915 Obituary [1]

STUART RICHARDSON was born in Swansea on the 9th January, 1863.

For some time he studied law, but a legal career did not appeal to him. He served his time with the Brush Company at Loughborough, and then for three years was superintendent at the Leicester Corporation Electric Lighting Works.

In 1899 he accepted an appointment with the New Zealand Electrical Syndicate, a private company which at the time provided the electric lighting of Wellington, New Zealand.

In 1902 he was appointed assistant tramway engineer and in 1905 tramway and electrical engineer to the Wellington City Corporation, N.Z., a position he held until his death, which occurred on the 11th September, 1914.

He was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1895, an Associate Member in 1899, and a Member in 1901.
