1861 Alfred Pegler 40, foreign merchant, lived in London with Elizabeth Selina Pegler 37, Susannah Oatavis Pegler 72, Josephine Pegler 11, Stephen F Pegler 8, Francis Pegler 5[2]

1871 Lived with his grandparents in Hailsham, Sussex[3]

1881 India rubber manufacturer, living in East Retford with his parents Alfred Pegler 60, an india rubber manufacturer employing 61 men. 11 boys, 13 women, with Elizabeth Pegler 57, Josephine Pegler 28, Stephen F. Pegler 27, india rubber manufacturer, Francis Pegler 25[4]. The family business was Northern Rubber Co.

1899 With his brother, Frank, provided finance to expand the agency in Glasgow outside rubber products. This became Pegler Brothers and Co
