Stanley Wells (1888-1930)

Stanley Wells was born in 1888 and was apprenticed with the Maudslay Motor Co.
At the conclusion of his apprenticeship he entered the Drawing Office and subsequently became Assistant to Mr. Alex. Craig.
He then joined Humber, and left there to take up the position of Assistant Designer with Rover, where he remained until his death.
He was responsible for the design of the 21 h.p. Rover motor cycle and also shared in the design of the Rover cars.
He died on 14th August, 1930, at the age of 42.
He was elected a Graduate of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1909 and was transferred to Associate Member in 1921.
