1967 At the AGM the name of Smith's Potato Crisps Ltd was changed to Smiths Food Group, reflecting the intention to broaden the range of the company's products; the famous crisps would continue to be known as Smith's Crisps. The number of crisp factories had been reduced to 7, using the latest production and packaging techniques. G. and T. Bridgewater, biscuit makers, were subsidiaries[1]

1967 Acquired by General Mills

1972 of Pontardulais Road, Fforestfach, Swansea.
of Stockport Road, Cheadle Heath, Stockport.
of Caister Road, Great Yarmouth.
of Newark Road, Lincoln.

1977 of Southampton Road, Paulsgrove.
of Copse Road, Fleetwood.

c.1979 Acquired from General Mills by Associated Biscuit Manufacturers

1981 The name of Novelty Chocolates Ltd was changed to Smiths Food Group Ltd

1981 Moved headquarters from Kew to the parent's offices in Reading; considering factory closures due to the discount war stimulated by competitive pressure[2]

1982 Nabisco purchased Associated Biscuit Manufacturers.

1988 RJR Nabisco owned British brands including Smiths Crisps and Snack Products [3]

1989 Associated Biscuits was purchased by Danone.

1989 Smiths Food Group was renamed Crispflow Ltd. The company was owned by BSN SA; it was then sold to a subsidiary of Pepsico.

1994 Name changed to Walkers Snack Foods Ltd
