1798 The Smithfield Club was founded originally as the Smithfield Cattle and Sheep Society

1799 December. First show was held at Wootton's Livery Stables (Dolphin Yard), Smithfield

Annual shows then held at other London sites

1862 The show moved to the Royal Agricultural Hall, Islington where it remained until 1938

1949 First post war held at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, where it remained until 2004

1960 Granted Royal status - Royal Smithfield Club
