1907 E. Smith and T. T. Butler left J. Trumble and Sons to start on their own in Cardigan Fields Leeds.

1915 Smith and Butler's was absorbed by the Wall Paper Manufacturers., Edgar Smith joining the Board and at a later date becoming Chairman.

The branch specialised in silver ceilings, satinettes, and leaf tapestry types of design

1949 Osmund Smith was the director, having started at the business in 1918.
