Skew Railway Bridge over Stroudwater Canal
This wrought iron plate girder bridge, east of Stonehouse, Glos., formerly carried the Stonehouse to Nailsworth branch of the Midland Railway over the Stroudwater Canal.
The track was removed in 1966, and the bridge was partly rebuilt in concrete. It now carries a cycleway.
The ironwork was designed and supplied by James Ferrabee and Co in 1867. The bridge is interesting for its iron 'tripod' supports on the northern canal bank. Three cast iron tubular columns are interconnected by cast iron X-bracing.
