1852 Advert: 'BECKETT'S REGISTERED SPINDLE GAUGE. - SAMUEL BECKETT, Russell-street, Ancoats, Spindle Manufacturer, begs to introduce to the notice of Spindle Makers and Machinists in general, his REGISTERED SPINDLE GAUGE, by the facilities attending the use of which superior accuracy in the construction of mule spindles is attained. The improved gauge is likewise applicable in the construction of other parts of machinery, which required to be made of taapering form/ The Registered Gauge may be inspected on application to John Potter, C.E., office for patents. &c., 9, Corporation-street, John Crowley and Co., ironfounders, Long Millgate ; to Messrs. William Jessop and Sons, Steel manufacturers, Dale-street; to Messrs Naylor, Vickers, and Co., steel manufacturers, Sun Entry, Market-street, Manchester.'[1]
