1916 Obituary [1]

ROBERT WILLIAM SMITH-SAVILLE, Borough Engineer and Surveyor of Darwen, died on the 2nd June, 1915, aged 48.

Trained to municipal work at Barnsley, he became subsequently Assistant Surveyor at Accrington, and Deputy Borough Engineer at Burton-on-Trent.

He took up his duties at Darwen in 1896, afterwards adding to them the offices of Waterworks Engineer, Tramways Manager, and Architect on the Education Committee.

He was elected an Associate Member on the 2nd December, 1890.
