1862 Married Sarah Dowie in Springburn[3]

1881 Boiler maker, employing 45 men and 10 boys, lived in Barony with Sarah Penman 52, William Penman 24, Robert R Penman 17, Alexander Penman 15, Margaret Penman 13[4]

1891 Robert Penman 58, boiler maker, lived in Glasgow, Bridgeton, with William Penman 34, boiler maker and Margaret Penman 23[5]
