ROBERT LINDLEY MAITLAND, M.A. (Cantab.), died at Port Said on the 31st March, 1912, aged 43.
He obtained his engineering training under his cousin, Sir Wm. Lindley, M.Inst.C.E., of Frankfort, and later entered the Public Works Department of Western Australia, where he was engaged on several water-supply and sewerage schemes.
In 1907 he joined the Egyptian Public Works Department as chief assistant to Mr. C. C. James, M.Inst.C.E., and was occupied on the design of drainage systems for Cairo and Port Said.
Mr. Maitland was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 1st December, 1908.
