1974 Contractors involved in Phase Two of the tunnelling machine and erector equipment for the Channel Tunnel completed work on schedule despite the 'three day week'. Priestly were selected by Cross Channel Contractors to supply the machine to excavate the 17ft diameter tunnel and line it with re-inforced concrete 1ft thick.
