1948 Robert Kronfeld of 46A, Greencroft Gardens, London, N W 6, Test Pilot, died on 12th February, 1948[5]. He was killed whilst testing the GAL.56 tailless glider on a flight from Lasham; he enabled his observer, Barry McGowan,to escape at low level before the glider crashed[6]
