1910 Born Teignmouth
Educated at Coventry Junior Technical School and at Birmingham Central Technical College.
1925 Started work as Junior Laboratory Assistant with the Triumph Cycle and Motor Co., Ltd.
1927 joined Renolds and Coventry Chain Co., Ltd., as Junior Physicist.
1928 Junior Chemist with Humber Ltd.
Later became a Foundry Chemist with Morris Motors Ltd.
1933 Appointed Chief Assistant Metallurgist
1935 Appointed Chief Metallurgist and Chemist
1935-40 Part-time lecturer in Metallurgy, Birmingham Central Technical College and Coventry Technical College.
1946 On the establishment of the Nuffield Central Research Laboratories was placed in charge as Chief Chemist and Metallurgist.
1953 Chief Chemist and Metallurgist, Nuffield Central Research Laboratories and at Morris Motors Ltd., Engines Branch.
1955 Chief Materials Engineer, The British Motor Corporation.
