1838 Went into partnership with William Thorowgood

1841 Type founder, lived in Clerkenwell[2]

1849 The business became Robert Besley and Co

1851 Type founder, lived in Hornsey[3]

1861 Type founder, employing 150 men, lived in Edmonton[4]

1861 Robert Besley and Benjamin Fox were registered as electors at a house in Aldersgate Without, London[5]

1861 Alderman Robert Besley retired from the business which became Reed and Fox

1871 Retired type founder, Alderman of the City of London, lived in Wandsworth with Eliza Besley 70[6]
