1909 The Pioneer Company was formed to develop Sandwich Haven

WWI Development of the Haven stopped. Eventually the undertaking was taken over by the Government.

Post-WWI The port was acquired from the Government

1919 Attracted criticism for poor design and wasteful construction[1]
