1908 Practical training under W. H. Hutchinson, of Hutchinson and Co contractors building the Huddersfield to Mirfield Railway of the Midland Railway
1909 Assistant to H. O. Baldry of Baldry and Yerburgh at Selby, contractors for the Selby and Goole Railway for the North Eastern Railway Company.
1910 Transferred to the London office of the firm.
1911 Associate of Inst of Civil Engineers. In Madrid, engineer to Messrs Baldry, Yerburgh and Hutchinson Ltd, contractors for public works, of 21 Queen Anne's Gate, London[2]. Later of Kineton Vicarage, Warwicks.
