1849 Company established by R. W. Crosthwaite in Scotland.
1854 At Camelon; made castings for Robert Dobbie; may also have made castings for Smith and Wellstood.
1855 James Smith contracted George Ure, managing partner of Crosthwaite, Ure and Co of Camelon, to produce stoves.
1860 Crosthwaite, Ure and Co was dissolved; the business was carried on by Robert Wilson Crosthwaite on his own account
1875 Union Foundry also known as R. W. Crosthwaite Ltd was established.
1878 Company moved to Thornaby-on-Tees.
By 1893 The works were owned and managed by Messrs. J. R. Crosthwaite and J. P. Fry.
1908 Incorporated as a Limited Company.
1914 Ironfounders. Specialities: rain water goods, stoves, ranges, baths and all kinds of light castings required in the building trade. Employees 600. [1]
1929 Joined Allied Ironfounders; retained its identity until 1962.
1937 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. Radio Combination Grate, with Hotplate Table, Fire Swing Trivets, Raised Curb and Chimneypiece, in permanent "Alustre" Enamel. Also Bedroom Grates and Chimneypieces, enamelled wood colours. Loose Fires, in various colours. (Stand Nos. B.609 and B.508) [2]
