Maker of plastic piping

1980 Formed in Doncaster by Kevin McDonald, with the help of Geoff Harrison

1985 Public offer of shares in the company[1]

1986 Acquired a maker of plastic pipe, Paragon, from F. H. Tomkins and Procell Plastics, maker of plastic fascias, etc[2]

1988 Acquired Hayes Pipes (Ulster) and its subsidiary Autoplas (NI)[3] and Mason Pinder, maker of injection moulding tools and moulds[4]

1996/7 Several acquisitions including TDI makers of insulated damp proof courses[5] and Celmac of Manchester[6]

1999 Acquired by IMI[7]

2004 IMI disposed of most of its building products division, the last part being Polypipe[8]

2005 A private equity group bought Polypipe from IMI[9]
