1888 John Boyd Dunlop invented the pneumatic tyre and he set up Pneumatic Tyre and Booths Cycle Agency Ltd[1] with the help of William Harvey Du Cros and R. J. Mecredy. They started manufacture in Lincoln Place, Dublin but because of complaints about fumes they moved the business to Coventry[2].
1889 The name Dunlop Rubber Company was first used for a private company created to serve as one of the manufacturing units for this company[3]
1893 Company name changed to the Pneumatic Tyre Co
1894 Pneumatic Tire Co. Pneumatic Tires for vehicles.[4]
1894 Purpose built premises constructed at Alma Street, Coventry[5].
1896 Acquired the works previously occupied by Singer and Co at Alma Street, Coventry[6].
1896 Became the Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Co[7]
